A Family Legacy
Dicle and Giray Gundem, founders of Cariada Yachting & Shipping, share a deep-rooted passion for the sea. Their journey began in 2003, while working together at a shipping company in Turkiye. Little did they know back then that their shared dream would lead to the creation of their own maritime business.
Both hailing from coastal towns with rich maritime histories, the sea was the hereditary calling for Dicle and Giray. Dicle’s grandfather was one of the pioneers in sponge diving, fishing, and sea trade in Bodrum, while Giray’s father served as the harbor chief in Kusadasi, one of Turkey’s earliest cruise ports. These early influences ignited a lifelong love for the ocean.
In 2009, the couple embarked on a new adventure in Bodrum, establishing Cariada Yachting & Shipping. Inspired by the region’s ancient history, they chose the name “Cariada,” combining “Caria,” the historical region encompassing Bodrum, with “Ada,” the name of a royal Carian princess. This name pays homage to the region’s maritime heritage and the entrepreneurial spirit of its people.
Over the past 15 years, Cariada has grown into a thriving maritime company, providing a wide range of services to yacht and ship owners, captains and enthusiasts. From custom itineraries and private charters to the construction of lighthouses in key Turkish ports, Cariada has been continuing to make a notable contribution to the industry.
As parents to a young boy who shares their love for the sea, Dicle and Giray continue to be driven by their passion and commitment to excellence in doing what they love the most, working in the maritime industry. They invite you to embark on a maritime adventure with them, to continue to explore the stunning coasts of the Aegean and Mediterranean shores of Turkiye, and now, to expand their horizons to unveil the captivating shores of Montenegro in the Adriatic Sea.
